A gallery wall is a fun and stylish way to bring a bit of personality into your space. Overwhelmed with where to begin? Below, I've included a bit of inspiration and 5 helpful tips for creating your dream gallery wall.
1.Choose pieces that have cohesive color schemes and tones.
This will help to pull the whole wall together. Ask yourself these prompts to get headed in the right direction:
What colors do you already have in your space that you can incorporate in your wall?
What colors bring you joy?
Do you prefer neutrals or vibrant colors?
What color combinations do you gravitate towards?
What textures or natural elements (such as plants) would you like to tie into your look?
2.Choose a combination of frames that compliment the prints you’ve chosen.
Below, I’ve included some of my favorite options for frames. Changing the frame size is a good trick to making art prints look like they are different sizes even when they’re all the same. For example, you can choose some 8x10” frames with no mat, and some 11x14” frames that have an 8x10”mat. The same goes for a 5x7” print. Choosing to include a mat can completely change the look.
3.Mix and match!
Have a little fun! Don't be afraid to mix and match vintage, modern, gold, black white etc. This creates a super interesting statement. Start with 2 or 3 different colors to keep it from looking too chaotic.
On the other hand, keeping all frames the same color is a nice look for a more simplistic and modern style.
4.Make it personal.
Add some personal touches, such as an old photo, a postcard, or souvenir from a trip - the sky's the limit!
5.Play with dimension.
Not everything needs to be art! Shelves, wall plants, or mirrors can also be incorporated into your wall.
